BRACED Union frowns at the show of shame at NDDC

After analysing the debacle leading to war of words amongst managers of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, the National leadership of the BRACED Union appears angry and disappointed at the show of shame exhibited by the supposedly illustrious Niger Deltans at the helm of affairs of the Interventionist Agency.

The group in a statement endorsed by its National President, High Chief Monday Wehere stated that this was a privilege taken too far, thereby calling on all Niger Delta people to condemn what is going on in its entirety.

The group however, stressed that the mandate of the Commission was to intervene with critical development projects in the Niger Delta and improve the living standards of the people, but instead, had turned into a cash cow for a privileged few.

The statement nonetheless, called on the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, immediate past Acting MD of NDDC, Joi Nunieh Esq., the Acting Executive Director of Projects, Hon. Cairo Ojougboh, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and others who are parties in the NDDC crisis to maintain decorum and stop the disgrace on our collective regional image.

The Union advised them to moderate their utterances and actions, stressing that the Region was the most affected in this whole national show of shame.

In conclusion, the BU appealed to BRACED based media organisations to play down on the impasses between Akpabio and Nunieh in order not to continue to escalate an already messy situation.

It also called on the elder statesmen and critical stakeholders in the affairs of the Niger Delta to wade into the crisis at the NDDC with a view to resolving brothers and sisters at war and equally to find a lasting solution to the corruption that has bedeviled the NDDC, making it operate in an opposite direction.
